Forms and Deadlines


As part of the ongoing educational series to assist members in completing the CMP progress, this module will address questions and provide clarification regarding the various forms and deadlines associated with the CMP program

There are three (3) types of activities where members can earn CEUs: Sponsor Initiated Activities, Academic Coursework, and Participant Initiated Non-RID Activity (PINRA).  Below you will find step-by-step instructions for completing the CEU process along with the necessary forms required by RID.

Sponsor Initiated Activities

Participants at a conference Sponsor initiated activities are developed by a Sponsor and presented for group instruction or for individual study. Examples include: short courses, workshops, seminars, conferences, teleconferences and distance learning (e.g. continuing education publications, teleconferences, multi-media instruction materials, and programmed learning materials).

The activity sponsor needs to complete and forward an Instructor's form and Sponsor's form to the CMP coordinator via email or snail mail 45 day prior to activity date. The sponsor must fill out all parts of the Instructor's form as well as all of the Sponsor form except for Activity Number, Internal Code and Subject Code.

 

In addition to the Instructor and Sponsor forms, the following will need to be sent to the CMP sponsor:

 

1. A copy of the workshop flyer.  The flyer must include the following:

    A. The number of CEUs

    B. CEU category, PS or GS

    C. Instructional level - Little/None, Some, Intensive, Teaching

    D. Activity for CMP participants, ACET participants, or both

    E. If you offer partial CEUs for partial attendance as well as any cancellation and/or refund policies

 

2.  Participants must receive a certificate of attendance and a blank copy must be sent to the CMP sponsor.  The certificate must include the following:

    A. Activity title

    B. Activity date

    C. RID Activity number

    D. RID Approved Sponsor Name

 

3. A copy of the agenda

 

4. A copy of the Instructor's resume, vitae or bio

  

Upon receipt of the forms and supporting documentation, the CMP coordinator will process them and send the activity sponsor a confirmation letter including the RID Activity number along with the sign in scantrons and evaluation forms.

 

Upon event completion, the activity sponsor must mail all scantrons and evaluations to the CMP coordinator via snail mail within 30 days.

 

Upon receipt of the scantrons and evaluations, the CMP coordinator will process and forward the forms to the RID national office for further processing and should be added to the participant's transcripts within 45 days.


Academic Coursework

Students in a classCEUs may be awarded for academic coursework taken from an accredited institution during the participant's current cycle. This accreditation must be recognized by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA). Successful completion is defined as receiving a minimum letter grade of "C" (2.0) or above.

With any college course that you wish to obtain CEUs can be applied for at any time during the CEU cycle in which the course was taken. CEU forms must be submitted after completing the course.
 

Please fill out the Academic Coursework Activity Plan & Activity Report 

Send it to the CMP coordinator, along with the following:

1) A copy of your transcript verifying successful completion of the course with a grade of "C" or better.

2) A description of the course. The description found in the institution's course catalog or the course syllabus stating the course description.

3) The institution's Accreditation Statement. This can also be taken from the college/university's catalog.

Upon receipt of the forms and documentation, the CMP coordinator will process and forward the forms to the RID national office for further processing and should be added to the participant's transcripts within 45 days.

Participant Initiated Non-RID Activity (PINRA)

Participants at a wrkshopParticipant initiated non-RID activities are activities an interpreter/transliterator wishes to attend which are not offered by an RID approved sponsor. The activity must be sponsored by an organization with specific known standards, and must have a specific format, educational objectives, and purpose. Participant initiated non-RID activities include but are not limited to: auditing a college class, non-credit courses at an educational institution, corporate trainings, community education, school district in-service, and organizational conventions/workshops.

Forms must be submitted and approved by CMP coordinator prior to attending the activity.

Please fill out the Participant Initiated Non-RID Activity form, PINRA, and send it to the CMP Coordinator along with a description of the activity for approval. Upon receiving written approval from the CMP coordinator, you may attend the activity for CEUs.

Upon activity completion, forward a copy of the certificate of attendance or other proof of attendance to the CMP coordinator within 30 days of the activity date.

Upon receipt of the forms and documentation, the CMP coordinator will process and forward the forms to the RID national office for further processing and should be added to the participant's transcripts within 45 days.
